Soli-Luzon resols Jan 02
Note: These were resolutions passed in the Soli Luzon-wide Congress, january 21-23, 2002, which paved the way for the systemwide establishment of the Alliance. Some resolutions were lost

Resolutions
Solidaridad 1st Luzonwide Congress

A Resolution Calling for the formation of a System-Wide Alliance of Solidaridad

Whereas, the student publications' and writers' organizations' role in raising student awareness and effecting change in the community is duly recognized.

Whereas, an alliance of student publications will greatly benefit each constituent in achieving their goals.

Whereas, significant news, issues, and movements are sometimes confined to a particular college or unit.

Whereas, such information needs to be known and discussed in other colleges/units to eventually benefit the whole system.

Therefore, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved, that in the light of upholding campus press freedom and advancing campus journalism in the UP system, the Solidaridad Alliance-Luzon is committed in the formation of a system-wide alliance in coordination with the like in Visayas and Mindanao. We also resolve to further information exchange among different chapters by holding regular meetings and maximizing all communication capabilities in preparation for the system-wide congress which we propose to hold yearly.



A Resolution Condemning the UP Charter Revision

Whereas, a bill was proposed in Congress by House Representative Antonio Eduardo Nachura calling for the revision of UP's Charter.

Whereas, under the bill, the Board of Regents (BOR) would be granted the sole right and authority to make and implement administrative and educational policies governing the university. The BOR, for example, may decide to increase tuition and laboratory fees without any consultation with the students.

Whereas, being a state university, UP should continue advancing the students' interests and its policies should be approved not only by the BOR but also, and most of all, by the UP students.

Therefore, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved, that the Solidaridad Alliance-Luzon expresses its condemnation of the bill revising the UP Charter and shall fight against its approval.

Resolution Calling for the Repeal of the Revitalized General Education Program (RGEP)

Whereas, the RGEP drafted and proposed by the General Education (GE) Council to the University Council (UC) was approved in UP Los Baņos, UP in the Visayas, UP College Baguio, and UP Diliman.
Whereas, subjects under these clusters should meet the objectives and core values which would maintain the well roundedness of UP students.

Whereas, the approval of the RGEP is undemocratic since the process did not undergo extensi
